Surgery procedures

Orthognathic surgery (jaw surgery)

Most patients visiting dentists with complaints of overcrowding, poor alignment of teeth or severe proclination of front teeth can be addressed with only orthodontic treatments, these patients are said to have dental malocclusion. Whereas some of these cosmetic and functional problems will need surgical intervention in its management along with orthodontics. As the underlying problem is both dental and skeletal discrepancy just attempting orthodontic treatment as a camouflage may not produce satisfactory and stable results.

Performing Orthognathic surgeries to correct skeletal discrepancies will definitely give elegant cosmetic and functional results that provide long term stability. Almost every patient who needs surgical correction may require pre-surgical orthodontic teeth alignment for better results and long term success. Hence at Moorthy dental we work as a multi disciplinary team including both Orthodontists and surgeons right from Treatment Planning to Treatment Execution

Some of the common Skeletal discrepencies that needs surgical correction include

  • Facial asymmetry
  • Short face/long face
  • Open bite malocclusion
  • Post traumatic deformity correction
  • Sleep apnoea
  • Temporomandibular joint disorders

Guided implant surgery

Guided surgery in implantology is a giant step forward which involves 3 D imaging of patients followed by a software based planning of the Implant positions. Implant placement is done with a surgical guide generated from CT data using Nobel Procera 3D or Simplant softwares.
